wtf how could u even mention vetements and phlemuns in the same context. everyone already knows how i feel about vetements but phlemuns is such an incredible label for so many reasons!!
firstly i think james is probably the most admirable young designer atm, they’ve gotten where they and the opportunities they’ve had not riding off the back of some big fashion school but through their own independent hard work and amazing drive (not saying fash school isnt hard but its diff!).
aesthetically their designs are so spot on atm but i think its mostly coincidental that their style is so current but i feel what separates them is their influences seem to be v personal, as well as being realistic and wearable and totally lacking pretentiousness which a lot of designers dont consider.
plus someone who puts so much of their identity and personality into their designs without having an inflated ego is rare (tho big egos are ok sometimes too)! james seriously seems like the most humble guy ever especially in the “meticulously crafted online identity self promotion” era we’re in!
the idea of phlemuns being blanketed under the “vetements umbrella” of trendy labels does them such a disservice! soz im rambling but phlemuns 4 ever!
